Memorial Wall

The Normal Heart Memorial Wall

TotoToo is privileged to present the Ottawa premiere of Larry Kramer’s stage play, The Normal Heart, which chronicles the early days of the HIV/AIDS epidemic (1981-1984) and one man’s lonely fight to awaken the world to the crisis.  This play is largely autobiographical, with many of the characters based on real people and the true stories of love, frustration, loss and determined activism surrounding this epidemic.

The Ottawa community has its own stories and many among us have been touched by HIV/AIDS and the loss of loved ones.  In consultation with an advisory committee of community elders who lived the crisis of the early 80’s, and in conjunction with this production, TotoToo is installing The Normal Heart Memorial Wall in remembrance of loved ones lost to HIV/AIDS in our community.   The Memorial Wall will be installed in the lobby of The Gladstone Theatre at 910 Gladstone Avenue during the run of The Normal Heart, from March 1-10.
